82% engage with idle screen trial

A new report out this week supported the potential of a favoured hobby horse of mine, Idle Screen Technology.

Celltick’s LiveScreen Media sends news and entertainment, as well as advertising messages directly to the idle screens of mobile phones, generating revenue from content downloads, subscription services and advertising fees.

Telefonica tested the service as part of a six-month trial in Mar del Plata, Argentina, involving around 5,000 customers. Results showed 82% engaged.

82%!

Ok, so the technical infrastructure may differ somewhat between the UK and Argentina in terms of bandwidth and the like. But 82%?! That’s surely compelling enough for extra investigation closer to home.

Did I mention 82% engaged? (No disclaimer necessary; just think there’s huge potential if technical hurdles can be overcome).
